Nolan awarded Green Dragon Level 5 Standard

10 July 12

Welsh manufacturer and installer, Nolan uPVC and its commercial division, Nolan Commercial has achieved Level 5 of the prestigious Green Dragon Environmental Standard.

All areas of the PVCu and aluminium business have been assessed as achieving Level 5 following an intensive and independent audit of environmental policies and procedures. It builds on the Level 2 Green Dragon Environmental Standard held by the company for the past four years.

The Green Dragon Level 5 certificate was presented to Nolan General Manager, Jason James, by AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas and Jake Griffiths, Lead Auditor at the Wales Green Business Centre who was part of the assessment team.

Commenting on the award, Jason James said:

“Achieving Green Dragon Level 5 is part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving our environmental credentials. To be one of very few Welsh businesses to have achieved Level 5 is a great achievement and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability, environmental improvement and the reduction of greenhouse gases through an audited environmental programme. I am delighted that everyone’s hard work has paid off with this prestigious accreditation.”

Nolan has always taken its responsibility for the environment seriously and seeks to ensure sustainability and environmental considerations throughout the company's services and activities. One area is working closely with suppliers on closed-loop recycling of PVCu windows and doors.

Jake Griffiths, Lead EMS Auditor from the Wales Green Business Centre that undertook the audit said: “In achieving Green Dragon Level 5 Nolan were able to demonstrate a commitment to the principals of continual environmental improvement with significant increases in resource efficiency through recycling and transport improvements. These have not only brought improvements in environmental performance but also cost savings to the company.”

Green Dragon offers an environmental management system relevant to the specific needs of the company and rewards actions taken to achieve environmental improvements.

Level 5 is the highest Green Dragon award and is equivalent to ISO 14001 certification, and recognised by BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method).
