Tycroes Primary School Ammanford

Client: Carmarthenshire County Council
Value: £63,000
Product(s): UPVC windows and automated aluminium doors

A multi-million pound project is underway to extend and remodel Tycroes CP School in Ammanford. The £3.5m project involves the design and build of a new extension and refurbishment of the existing primary school.

Contracted by John Weaver Construction, Nolan Commercial has been appointed as a sub-contractor for the supply and fit of Teleflex remote control opening UPVC windows and automated aluminium doors in a variety of 'themed' powder coated RAL colours.

"Our aim is to supply and install products that are secure, environmentally sound and modern through the incorporation of several measures, including anti-finger trap hinges, Secured by Design specified products and Teleflex opening windows," says Chris Hughes, head of commercial sales at Nolan.

The new extension will provide additional classrooms and assembly hall space. The remodeling of the existing school buildings will enhance access to the school and improve the playground and parking facilities.

Work is due for completion in May 2012. The school has remained open and fully occupied throughout the multi-phased project.

"The project had to be carefully phased to allow the school to remain open and the safety of children, parents and teachers to be protected throughout the construction," commented Pembroke Design, the appointed architects for the project.

Much to the delight of all staff and pupils, the new infant department was open in time for their return to school after the summer holidays. Work continues on the refurbishment of the old sections of the school.
